What happened
Secretary Sean Duffy unveiled the Department of Transportation’s “Freedom Moves You” campaign at Washington’s Union Station, in the department’s March 7, 2026 upload of the launch. The campaign places Freedom 250 imagery — civics-themed artwork Duffy said the Heritage Foundation crafted and gave to the country without a contract or charge, as he stated it — across the nation’s transportation platforms. “We all move, whether it’s planes, trains, automobiles, we all move through transportation,” Duffy said in explaining the campaign’s name. He named train stations like Union Station, JFK Airport, and Nationals Park as display sites, and invited other major venues and sporting events to participate free of charge, as he offered it. The launch was part of the administration-wide observance of America’s 250th birthday, which Duffy said the President had asked every department to join.
Why it matters
“Freedom Moves You” is the Transportation Department’s piece of the Freedom 250 program — the same semiquincentennial effort behind the Freedom 250 Grand Prix order and the department’s 250th programming across 2026. It shows the Secretary’s remit running beyond funding and regulation into the administration’s civic-celebration campaign, delivered through the transit spaces his department oversees.
