20th Secretary of Transportation — Transportation

Signature issue: Airspace and air-traffic-control modernisation; transport safety and fast infrastructure delivery

Scoreboard tally

Wins, pending items, and setbacks on this profile are tallied from published scoreboard entries — never set by hand. The tally begins with the first reviewed weekly entry that scores this official.

Role status — October 2026: Duffy is the confirmed Secretary of Transportation. The Department of Transportation’s biography states that he “serves as the 20th United States Secretary of Transportation”; he was confirmed and sworn in on January 28, 2025, succeeding Pete Buttigieg. No DOT turnover has occurred. One correction this site’s role audit applies: DOT’s biography still describes Duffy in the present tense as additionally serving as acting administrator of NASA since July 9, 2025; a House biography dated May 2026 dates that acting NASA role July 2025 to December 2025 (Wikipedia’s cross-check records Jared Isaacman confirmed on December 18). This profile publishes the ended date, not DOT’s stale present tense. Status dot is yellow — not for any question about his tenure, but because of the attributed ethics scrutiny of his video operation described in the third paragraph.

At DOT, his stated priorities, per his department biography, are “infrastructure investments, efficiency, safety, and the speedy delivery of projects.” In September 2026 he championed the proposed $30 billion “Modern Skies Act” to modernise air-traffic-control digital architecture — the airspace-modernisation program that is his signature scoreboard promise.

Duffy, a former Fox Business co-host and reality-television figure, has the highest made-for-video output in his research cluster: a six-episode family series, The Great American Road Trip, premiered on the Department of Transportation’s official YouTube channel on August 19, 2026, alongside near-weekly DOT press-conference video on air-traffic-control modernisation and the eVTOL pilot programme in September 2026. The criticism, attributed: Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) and Democratic senators have asked the DOT Inspector General to review the road-trip series’ corporate sponsorships (reported sponsors include Boeing and Toyota). A July 2026 CREW complaint to the Inspector General is also the filing that identifies his @SecDuffy account as his official DOT X account.

Video sources: LOUD. Primary video lives on the Department of Transportation’s official YouTube channel — the six-episode The Great American Road Trip series (August 2026) and near-weekly press conferences — supplemented by his X output and C-SPAN/committee footage.

Why he matters to this chronicle: Duffy owns the Transportation category of the scoreboard, including the air-traffic-control modernisation promise, and he is a test case for this site’s method: a secretary who generates an unusual volume of department-produced video — which is both a rich primary source and, per the CREW complaint, itself a subject of attributed scrutiny the chronicle has to record alongside the output.
