What happened
HUD published its October 14, 2026 event ‘Expanding Youth Sports & Community with Tampa Police and Former NFL Players,’ featuring Secretary Scott Turner — himself a former NFL player — alongside Tampa Police and other former players, as the department titled the upload.
Why it matters
Turner’s path to HUD ran through professional football and community work, and youth-sports and community programming is the public-engagement side of his housing mission: the event pairs the Secretary with local law enforcement and former players on the community ground HUD’s programs serve.
