What happened
President Donald Trump announced on October 7, 2026 that every single eligible minor child in America has now been automatically enrolled in a Trump Account, in remarks carried on the White House channel. He described the program — created under the tax law he signed the previous summer — as the United States government automatically creating a tax-free investment account for every child, to grow over the course of their lives and be used for their benefit after they turn 18.
The President thanked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano, and Senator Ted Cruz for their work on the program. He also thanked Michael and Susan Dell, crediting them with a donation of $6.25 billion into the Trump Accounts, and Brad Gerstner, whom he credited with a donation of tens of millions of dollars.
Why it matters
Trump Accounts are the administration’s signature household-wealth program, and automatic enrollment of every eligible child is the milestone that turns an announced program into a standing one — every child in, by default, rather than by application. Treasury is the owning department under Secretary Bessent, whose profile on this site tracks the program’s rollout.
Scoreboard watch
This is a candidate item for the weekly scoreboard: a dated, funded milestone on a named administration program, announced by the President with the private donations stated on the record. Enrollment counts and account performance are what the scoreboard will check as the record develops.
