What happened
President Donald Trump addressed the men and women of the Nassau County Police Department and other law enforcement officers in Garden City, New York, on August 14, 2026, in a law-and-order rally on Long Island. “We’re here today to celebrate the historic progress our administration is making together with law enforcement partners nationwide to restore law and order in America,” he said. “You have to let them do their job. That’s all there is.”
He credited County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s leadership for the county’s standing: “Nassau County has been rated the number one safest county in the United States of America… U.S. News and World Report gives you a perfect score in terms of crime, 100 out of 100.” He argued the administration had ended what he called the border invasion on the day he took the oath, attacked sanctuary cities as “a sanctuary for criminals,” and repeated his figure of 11,888 murderers admitted under the prior administration — “many of whom have killed more than one person” — whom he said his administration is removing: “We’re getting them the hell out. They’re moving out fast.”
Why it matters
Public safety is Attorney General Blanche’s and the FBI’s file, and this rally is the President’s fullest statement of the law-enforcement partnership model: local police credited by name, a safest-county rating cited as the proof case, and removal figures stated on the record. Each figure — the U.S. News rating and the 11,888 number — is attributed here to the President and checkable against the cited sources.
Scoreboard watch
This rally carries scoreboard-watch claims: Nassau County’s number-one safest-county rating with a 100-out-of-100 crime score (as cited by the President from U.S. News and World Report), and the administration’s removals of criminal non-citizens. The scoreboard will check the rating against the publisher’s list and the removal pace against DHS reporting.
