What happened

President Donald Trump was received in Ankara, Turkey on July 7, 2026 with a formal state arrival ceremony and honor guard review at the start of his visit for the NATO summit. The White House upload carries the ceremony in full — the arrival, the honors, and the review of the Turkish honor guard — without remarks from either leader.

The ceremony opened the summit trip whose working record is paged separately in this collection: the bilateral meeting with President Erdogan later on July 7, and the July 8 greeting, working session, and closing press conference.

Why it matters

Arrival honors are the formal frame of a state visit, and this one marks the start of the Ankara summit on the record — the first NATO summit hosted in Turkey in this administration, received at full ceremonial level. This chronicle files the ceremony here on the Foreign Policy & Defense hub, noted as ceremony footage with no remarks.
