What happened
VA Secretary Doug Collins visited the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, on July 7, 2026, in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ upload of the visit, part of his “on the road” series of facility stops. Collins described the Dayton VA, as he stated it, as one of the department’s oldest facilities but also one of its best — a five-star CMS facility — and said the visit took in the work under way there and the facility’s history center, just outside Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was joined by Senator Jon Husted of Ohio, whom Collins called a great partner with the VA.
Husted thanked the Secretary for coming and framed the region’s stake as he stated it: the people of Ohio and the Dayton region are proud of their history of aviation, the military, and supporting veterans, and the Dayton community wants to be the most military-friendly community in the state for active-duty personnel, veterans, and their families.
