What happened

President Donald Trump hosted a Rose Garden Club lunch at the White House on July 6, 2026, opening the event with Lee Greenwood performing “God Bless the USA” — “that song, we won three elections with that song,” the President said — before addressing the guests seated on the Rose Garden’s new stone.

“We have the hottest stock market in history,” he said. “We did great the first time. We had the greatest economic numbers ever in history for the first term and I think we’re going to be blowing them away,” citing factories rising across the country and “19.2 trillion investment.” On foreign policy he said the United States was “getting along great with Venezuela” and that “we paid for the war many times over,” and of Iran: “We wiped out their navy, their air force, their radar, their leaders… They want to make a deal so badly. But we’ll see what happens. They have to make the right deal because they cannot have a nuclear weapon.”

Much of the lunch was devoted to the setting itself: the President walked guests through the Rose Garden restoration — granite pavers replacing grass that sat on wetland, the Presidential Walk of Fame running from George Washington to Trump, and 150 years of paint stripped from the columns — “a lot of love is being put in the White House.”

Why it matters

The Rose Garden Club lunches are the President’s set-piece addresses to supporters and donors on the restored White House grounds, and this one states his mid-2026 case in one sitting: the market and investment figures he runs on, the Venezuela and Iran accounts as he tells them, and the grounds restoration as a legacy project. This chronicle files it on the Elections & Governance hub with every figure attributed to the President.

Scoreboard watch

Scoreboard watch: the $19.2 trillion investment figure, as stated by the President at this lunch, is the same headline figure he carried through the summer’s events — a dated, checkable marker for the investment tally. Noted for the scoreboard editor; no entry is published from this page.
