What happened

President Donald Trump signed the Secure America Act at the White House on June 10, 2026, flanked by congressional leaders and his homeland security team. “This morning, I’m thrilled to sign the Secure America Act to immediately and fully fund the Department of Homeland Security through the end of my term,” the President said. “We’ll give the heroes of ICE and Border Patrol — and that’s what they are — the support and resources they need to defend our borders, protect our homeland, and to keep America safe.” He stated the act’s two headline figures: “The Secure America Act provides $38 billion to ICE, $26 billion to [the] Border Patrol to ensure these critical law enforcement agencies [have] the necessary resources to do [their jobs].”

The President thanked Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and the House and Senate leadership, and introduced Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin — “He gave up his Senate seat… to be Homeland Security because he just wanted to serve” — and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, whom he said had “tremendous support in the Senate.” He said congressional Democrats had tried for “more than 100 days” to block DHS funding before the bill passed.

Why it matters

By the President’s account the act ends the DHS funding fight for the remainder of his term in a single law, and its two agency figures — $38 billion for ICE and $26 billion for the Border Patrol — are the funding baseline against which the deportation operation’s scale is tracked on the Border & Immigration hub.
