What happened
President Donald Trump participated in the greeting ceremony with President Xi Jinping in Beijing on May 14, 2026, as his state visit to China opened. The White House upload carries the full ceremony — the arrival honors and the two presidents’ greeting — without remarks from either leader; the broadcast’s audio is ceremonial music.
Why it matters
The greeting is the ceremonial first frame of the May 2026 Beijing summit: the visit whose bilateral meeting, state banquet, and Zhongnanhai closing remarks are recorded in this collection. It is recorded on the Foreign Policy & Defense hub as the summit’s opening entry.
