What happened

President Donald Trump addressed seniors at The Villages, Florida, in remarks carried by the White House on May 4, 2026. “We’re here to celebrate a policy that benefits every American senior all across this land, and it’s called no tax on Social Security. It’s done. It’s done,” he said.

The President stated that American seniors had received their largest tax refunds of all time under the tax cut, and put the Florida figures — as he stated them — at 2.5 million Florida seniors and more than $13 billion. “Just as I promised, we’re strongly protecting Social Security and Medicare, and we always will,” he said.
