What happened

President Donald Trump addressed The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches on May 1, 2026, in a wide-ranging speech to an audience of Florida friends and supporters. He thanked the Palm Beach community for “the extraordinary support that you’ve shown me and my family over the years,” previewed major upgrades coming to Palm Beach’s airport, and noted the golf championship underway at his Doral property.

The President’s through-line was the turnaround claim: “We’ve turned this country around. I thought it would take longer than that, but we’ve turned it around,” capped with the Saudi king’s verdict as he recounted it — that America had gone from a country thought “dead” to “the hottest country anywhere in the world. And we want to keep it that way.”

Why it matters

The Forum Club dinner is the President on home ground, delivering the second-term narrative to the civic audience that has hosted him for decades — the fullest single-evening statement of the “hottest country” framing in this stretch of the chronicle, on the Elections & Governance hub.

Scoreboard watch

The turnaround characterization as stated by the President — a country reversed faster than he expected, in the Saudi king’s quoted words the world’s “hottest” — is recorded here as the stated baseline for the claim.
