What happened

President Donald Trump took questions upon departing Palm Beach, Florida, on April 25, 2026. He said the planned Iran negotiating trip had been cancelled: “We cancelled the trip. We have all the cards. We’re not going to spend 15 hours in airplanes all the time going back and forth to be giving a document [that] was not good enough. So we’ll deal by telephone and they can call us anytime they want.” Iran’s leadership, he said, is consumed by infighting after two levels of leaders were knocked out — “I think they’re fighting not to be the leader” — and within ten minutes of the cancellation, he said, “we got a [paper] that was much better.” The deal itself, he said, “is not complicated. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”

Asked about the decision to drop the investigation into former Chair Jerome Powell in favor of an inspector-general referral, he kept the underlying demand: “How can a building that I could have done for $25 million cost $4 billion?… I built [a hotel in Washington] for $21 million and I believe it’s bigger than the Fed building.” Of incoming Chair Kevin Warsh he said, “Kevin is going to be fantastic… I would imagine it’s smooth [sailing for him now].” On prediction markets, he said other countries’ adoption leaves the United States “left out in the cold if we don’t do it,” and he defended attending a crypto industry conference that day: “We want to lead in AI and we’re also leading in crypto… we’re leading China by a lot in AI.”
