What happened

HHS published Secretary Kennedy’s price-transparency statement on January 12, 2026. In the statement carried in HHS’s description, Kennedy says: “President Trump and I are doing everything we can to pull back the curtain on prices for hospital stays, physician visits, and prescription drugs. We’re delivering on those promises, working to make your health care more transparent, more accessible, and more convenient, with no surprises.” The remarks are the short-form companion to the department’s Transparency in Coverage work.

Why it matters

Price transparency is a signature Kennedy HHS priority, and this statement is the Secretary’s own framing of the push — the standard against which the 2026 Transparency in Coverage Final Rules, presented at the October 6, 2026 HHS event, are to be measured.

Scoreboard watch

The transparency commitment stated here — prices visible for hospital stays, physician visits, and prescription drugs, with no surprises — is recorded as stated, to be checked against the published rules and their implementation.
