What happened
HHS published Secretary Kennedy’s account of his visit to the Nez Perce Tribal Hatchery in Idaho on December 16, 2025. In the statement carried in HHS’s description, Kennedy says: ‘I recently visited the Nez Perce Tribal Hatchery in Idaho, where the Tribe leads bold efforts to restore salmon runs, strengthen food sovereignty, and uphold treaty rights.’ A shorter HHS upload of the same visit (9xQuYzOW8MU, August 25, 2025) is recorded as an alternate source.
Why it matters
Tribal health and food sovereignty sit inside Kennedy’s HHS remit through the Indian Health Service; the hatchery visit ties salmon restoration and treaty rights to that portfolio.
