What happened

HHS published Secretary Kennedy’s statement on nutrition in medical schools on August 25, 2025. In the statement carried in HHS’s description, Kennedy says: ‘I’m leading a team at HHS, along with Ed. Sec. McMahon, targeting the woeful lack of nutrition education in medicine. We can reverse the chronic disease epidemic simply by changing our diets and lifestyles, but to do that, we need nutrition to be a basic part of every doctor’s training.’

Why it matters

This August 2025 statement is the originating commitment behind the HHS–Education nutrition-in-medical-training push that Kennedy and McMahon presented in expanded form on March 9, 2026.
