What happened
HHS published Secretary Kennedy’s account of his meeting with American patients impacted by drug prices on July 8, 2025. In the statement carried in HHS’s description, Kennedy says: ‘Americans pay 300 to 400 percent more than people in other countries for the same exact drug–often made in the same U.S. factory. No American should face bankruptcy over the cost of medication. I’m grateful to President Trump for prioritizing the campaign to lower drug prices.’
Why it matters
The patient meeting grounds Kennedy’s drug-pricing role in individual cases; the 300-to-400-percent figure he states here is the comparison the administration’s most-favored-nation pricing push is built against.
Scoreboard watch
Kennedy’s drug-price comparison (300 to 400 percent more than other countries for the same drug) is recorded as stated, for the scoreboard’s Health record.
