What happened

HHS published Secretary Kennedy’s visit to USDA for a SNAP waiver signing on June 18, 2025. In the statement carried in HHS’s description, Kennedy says: ‘I joined Sec. Rollins, Gov. Braun, Gov. Huckabee Sanders, and Rep. Baird at a historic waiver signing to remove junk food from SNAP in Arkansas, Idaho, and Utah. President Trump has asked us to Make America Healthy Again, and it starts by promoting healthier behaviors and better options for families - not by using taxpayer dollars for non-nutritious food or drinks.’

Why it matters

The state SNAP waivers are the joint HHS–USDA mechanism for Kennedy’s and Rollins’s shared food agenda — removing junk food from food-stamp eligibility state by state.
