What happened
Energy Secretary Chris Wright visited Rinnai America Corporation’s factory in Griffin, Georgia, in the Department of Energy’s upload of the May 2, 2025 event celebrating the administration’s first 100 days of unleashing American energy. Rinnai America president Frank Windsor welcomed the secretary and told the room the three-year-old plant — the only major tankless water heater manufacturer in the United States, employing over 200 local team members, as he stated the figures — was built in response to the President’s first-term call for foreign manufacturers to build in the United States.
Windsor and the Georgia officials who spoke credited Wright and the President with backing the Congressional Review Act effort to overturn a late-prior-administration Energy Department rule that, as the speakers described it, would have made the factory’s product line unviable — a rule Windsor said was passed the day after Christmas at the end of the previous administration. In his own remarks in the department’s companion clip of the visit, Wright stood in the factory and made the same point from the administration’s side: a renowned American manufacturing facility, encapsulating American ingenuity and hard work, that a rule issued at the very end of the previous administration would have put at risk.
Why it matters
Rinnai is the deregulation doctrine with a factory floor attached: the 100-days celebration was staged at a plant the administration says its rule rollback saved, turning an abstract Congressional Review Act fight into 200 Georgia jobs and a product line — the template Wright’s department used to argue its stewardship case all spring.
