What happened

President Donald Trump participated in a White House visit with the 2024 World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers on Apr. 7, 2025, carried on the White House channel. Accompanied by Dodgers owner and chairman Mark Walter, the President congratulated the team on what he called a legendary season, saying he had watched it very closely.

The President recounted how the championship was won the hard way: the Dodgers used 40 different pitchers over the season, the most ever by an eventual World Series championship team, as he told it, and he singled out Clayton Kershaw — “the heart and soul of the pitching staff,” in his words — whom the team had especially missed.

Why it matters

The Dodgers visit is the baseball entry in the President’s champions-at-the-White-House record for 2025, the ceremonial circuit that also brought the Dodgers’ predecessors and, a week later, the Ohio State football champions and the Navy Midshipmen to the same rooms.
