What happened

Energy Secretary Chris Wright delivered remarks to Space Force Guardians in Greenland, in the Department of Energy’s upload of the March 28, 2025 appearance at the high Arctic base. Wright thanked the Guardians for their service to the country, in his words, wherever it is and whatever it takes.

Wright said the base showed what energy can do: in his telling, energy makes a tough high Arctic environment a comfortable place to live and supports the scientific instrumentation and the military mission of monitoring what is going on in the world, none of which, he said, was possible not long ago. He said President Trump was elected to re-energize America and to make that a source of pride and ambition again, and closed by saying he was thrilled and proud to be part of the administration.

Why it matters

The Greenland stop puts Wright’s core claim — that energy is what makes presence and operations possible — in front of the uniformed audience that lives it: the Arctic mission runs on the power systems his department exists to expand.
