What happened
President Donald Trump hosted a Women’s History Month event at the White House on Mar. 26, 2025, carried on the White House channel. He opened by honoring women of American history - Betsy Ross, Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, Clara Barton, and Amelia Earhart - whose courage and patriotism, he said, propelled the nation to greatness.
The President then introduced women of his administration: Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, who ran his campaign and whom he credited with winning every swing state; Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, at 27 the youngest White House press secretary, as he noted; and counselor Alina Habba, whom he announced would become U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey. He said his administration has more women in its cabinet than any Republican president in the history of the country, as he stated it.
Why it matters
The event is the administration’s Women’s History Month observance and a personnel record in one sitting: the roles of Wiles and Leavitt celebrated on camera, and the Habba U.S. Attorney move announced by the President himself.
