What happened

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt briefed members of the media at the White House on Mar. 11, 2025, carried on the White House channel. She previewed the President’s address that day to the Business Roundtable’s quarterly meeting - more than 100 leading CEOs, the largest attendance ever for the event, as she stated it - following his roundtable the day before with the Technology CEO Council, and noted the previous night’s Oval Office swearing-in of Sean Curran as the 28th Director of the United States Secret Service, the agent who had stood under gunfire in Butler, Pennsylvania, the previous July.

Leavitt reported that following the confirmation of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer the night before, the Senate had now confirmed 21 of the President’s cabinet-level nominees. On the economy, she cited February’s jobs report: the manufacturing sector gained 10,000 jobs in one month, led by 9,000 new auto jobs, the most added in 15 months, as she stated them, and she pointed to Reuters reporting of companies expanding or moving operations into America in response to the President’s policies.

Why it matters

The briefing ties the confirmation count (21 cabinet-level nominees), the Curran swearing-in, and the first full-month jobs figures of the term into one podium record - the numbers the scoreboard checks against the underlying reports.
