What happened
Attorney General Pam Bondi administered the oath of office to Kash Patel as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in the ceremony carried on the White House channel (uploaded Feb. 24, 2025, following Patel’s Feb. 20 Senate confirmation). Patel swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
In his remarks, Patel thanked President Trump, calling the faith and trust placed in him to lead the FBI the greatest honor of his life, and thanked Bondi - “you’re my sister, you’re my mentor, you’re my friend, you’re my boss” - saying the men and women of the FBI would be led under one standard, the Constitution, as he stated it. He described himself as a first-generation Indian kid living the American dream, with family in the room from London and across the country.
