What happened
President Donald Trump signed the executive order barring men from competing in women’s sports at the White House on Feb. 5, 2025, carried on the White House channel, surrounded by female athletes. “In a few moments, I’ll sign a historic executive order to ban men from competing in women’s sports,” the President said. “It’s about time. Under the Trump administration, we will defend the proud tradition of female athletes and we will not allow men to beat up, injure, and cheat our women and our girls. From now on, women’s sports will be only for women” - the line the White House carried as the upload’s description.
Before the signing, the President announced what he called exciting news from the military: that in December the U.S. Army had posted its single best recruiting month in more than 15 years, with nearly 350 new soldiers enlisting every day, as he stated the figures, crediting a returning spirit in the country and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s leadership.
Why it matters
The Feb. 5 signing is the administration’s Title IX position executed as an order, in a room staged with the athletes it names: the policy’s own words, and the recruiting claim the President paired with it, are the dated record this site tracks against enforcement and litigation.
