What happened
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump attended the Pass in Review ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20, 2025, in the White House broadcast (uploaded Jan. 21) — the traditional inaugural ceremony in which the new commander-in-chief reviews the troops assembled for the inauguration. The broadcast carries the ceremony itself, without remarks from the President.
Why it matters
The Pass in Review is the military’s formal welcome to its new commander-in-chief and closes the ceremonial arc of Inauguration Day: oath, address, and then the armed forces rendering honors to the President who now leads them. It is the first defense-establishment entry in this chronicle of the term.
