What happened
PBS NewsHour carried the January 16, 2025 Senate confirmation hearing for Scott Turner, nominee for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, in full under the title ‘WATCH LIVE: Scott Turner testifies in Senate confirmation hearing for HUD secretary.’ The hearing before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee is the committee of jurisdiction’s examination of the HUD nomination.
Why it matters
This is Turner’s fullest on-the-record statement of the housing agenda he would bring to HUD — affordability, deregulation and opportunity — made under oath before the committee that oversees his department, and the baseline against which his record as Secretary is measured.
