Andrew Bailey Leaves the FBI Deputy Directorship

Andrew Bailey departed as co-deputy director of the FBI on October 2, 2026, having resigned on September 28, 2026.

Bailey had shared the Bureau’s number-two job with Christopher Raia in a co-deputy structure put in place after Dan Bongino’s departure at the start of the year (see the January 3, 2026 entry). His exit left Raia as the FBI’s sole deputy director under Director Kash Patel.
