Dan Bongino Leaves the FBI Deputy Directorship
Dan Bongino’s tenure as Deputy Director of the FBI ended on January 3, 2026. He had announced his resignation on December 17, 2025.
The succession at the Bureau’s number-two job ran through the co-deputy structure: Christopher Raia joined as co-deputy director on January 12, 2026, serving alongside Andrew Bailey — a two-deputy arrangement that lasted until Bailey’s own departure in the fall of 2026 left Raia as sole deputy (see the October 2, 2026 entry). Bongino returned to commentary after leaving, hosting his show on Rumble.
