What happened

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth kicked off the second Arsenal of Freedom tour with a stop in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on August 24, 2026, speaking to the Oshkosh Corporation workforce at Wittman Regional Airfield, in remarks published by the Department of War. The Secretary also spoke to the media in Oshkosh the same day, in a separate department upload. The tour’s later Dayton, Ohio stop — where Hegseth pressed contractors on production speed and set the department’s audit deadline — is paged separately on this site.

Why it matters

The Arsenal of Freedom tour is the Secretary’s procurement doctrine delivered factory by factory: the industrial base hears the department’s speed-and-capacity message from the Secretary himself, at the plants expected to deliver it. Oshkosh, a maker of military vehicles, is where the second tour began.
