What happened
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth spoke to the media at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, on June 10, 2026, in a media availability published by the Department of War. MacDill is the home of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command headquarters.
Why it matters
A media availability at the headquarters base for CENTCOM and SOCOM puts the Secretary on the record at the center of the department’s operational commands — part of his pattern of taking questions at installations rather than only at the Pentagon.
