What happened

President Donald Trump visited Thermo Fisher Scientific in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 11, 2026, touring the plant and speaking with its team. Company officials told him the site produces “1.3 billion doses of annual medicine and over 70% of that goes right here into the US for US based patients,” across cardiovascular, oncology and diabetes products, as they stated it, and that two reshoring opportunities — Merck named as one customer — “will nearly double the manufacturing for this facility.” They thanked the President for “the reshoring efforts,” in their words.

The President credited one-year expensing — “the one year depreciation is great… everyone loves it” — and ranged to the war, calling it “an excursion that will keep us out of a war” and saying the campaign was “way ahead of schedule.” His main set piece was drug pricing: the United States had paid “more than any other nation by far,” and through most-favored-nation pressure backed by tariff threats, “we went from the highest in the world to the lowest in the world,” with prices down “60 70 80 90%” in many cases, as he stated the figures. “We’re bringing it back to our country where it should be,” he said of pharmaceutical supply.

Why it matters

The Cincinnati stop pairs the reshoring claim with its evidence on the floor — a contract manufacturer doubling output on reshored work — and with the MFN drug-pricing story the President tells as the reason the reshoring matters to patients. It is recorded on the Economy, Tariffs & Trade hub.

Scoreboard watch

The site officials’ statement that two reshoring opportunities will nearly double the facility’s manufacturing, and the President’s most-favored-nation drug-pricing claims as stated by him, are recorded here as candidate items for the weekly scoreboard. The scoreboard entry itself remains review-gated.
