What happened
President Donald Trump visited a local business in Rome, Georgia on February 19, 2026, during the Georgia trip built around his economy remarks at Coosa Steel. Working the room among customers — “they have all those beautiful hamburgers,” he noted — he joked that the group was “studying my speech” and offered a preview: “Would you like to hear my speech? I’ll make it a speech in a little while.”
Between greetings he ran the election-integrity checklist he would repeat in the day’s main speech, asking the crowd directly: “Who likes voter ID? Who likes proof of citizenship? Who likes no mail-in ballots except for military, illness, disability, or like you’re on vacation?” He also returned to the Iowa ballot dispute he has pressed since the 2020 count — “all those crooked ballots were taken. Let’s see what happens… We’re cleaning it up,” as he put it.
Why it matters
The stop is the retail-politics companion to the Rome economy speech paged from the same day: the President testing the voter-ID and mail-in-ballot lines on a lunchtime crowd hours before delivering them from the factory floor. It is recorded on the Elections & Governance hub.
