What happened
President Donald Trump announced the launch of TrumpRx.gov at the White House on February 5, 2026, calling it “one of the most transformative health care initiatives of all time.” Starting that night, he said, “dozens of the most commonly used prescription drugs will be available at dramatic discounts for all consumers” through the new website.
The President framed the launch as the payoff of his most-favored-nation agreements: “Under the most favored nation agreements my administration has negotiated, the United States will pay the lowest price paid by any other country.” He argued Americans had long paid the world’s highest drug prices — the United States is, he said, 4% of the world’s population and 13% of prescription-drug consumption, yet pharmaceutical companies had made 75% of their money from the United States — and called the launch “the largest reduction in prescription drug prices in history.”
Why it matters
Drug pricing is a central promise of this administration’s health record, carried on this site by Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz. The TrumpRx launch is the consumer-facing step of the most-favored-nation policy the President had announced in stages through 2025 and 2026.
