What happened

President Donald Trump took questions aboard Air Force One on January 11, 2026. On Iran, asked whether Tehran had crossed his red line, he said: “They’re starting to, it looks like… We’re looking at it very seriously. The military’s looking at it. And we’re looking at some very strong options. We’ll make a determination.” He said he was getting hourly reports, that some protesters had been killed — “some of the protestors were killed through the stampeding… and some were shot” — and, asked about restoring internet access during the blackout, said “we may speak to Elon” Musk about Starlink: “I’m going to call him as soon as I’m finished with you.”

On Venezuela, he said the leadership was “really working out well,” that its leader “asked us, can we take 50 million barrels of oil? And I said, ‘Yes, we can.’ It’s $4.2 billion. And it’s on its way right now to the United States,” as he stated the arrangement. On the oil companies that had met at the White House two days earlier, he said he “didn’t like Exxon’s response… I’d probably be inclined to keep Exxon out,” while promising the others guarantees “that they’re going to be safe.” On Cuba, he said talks were under way — “you’re going to find out pretty soon” — and that his priority was caring for people who came from Cuba and are now U.S. citizens.

Why it matters

The gaggle is the connective record between the January 9 oil-executives meeting and the January 13–14 Iran statements paged in this collection: the Venezuela oil arrangement quantified by the President himself, the Iran options framed as under active military review, and the Starlink possibility raised on the record — each a claim this chronicle tracks forward from this date.
