What happened
President Donald Trump made an announcement at the White House on December 19, 2025, joined by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, alongside the leaders of nine of the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers.
The President opened with the Gold Card: asked how much had been sold in a few days, Lutnick answered “$300 million worth”; the President described the card as “essentially the green card on steroids” and a pathway for top graduates to stay, and said later in the event that over a billion and a half dollars had been taken in, going to the Treasury toward reducing debt, as he stated it. He then turned to most-favored-nation pricing: the nine companies present had agreed to offer many of their flagship drugs at MFN prices, and, the President said, “as of today, 14 out of 17 largest pharmaceutical companies have now agreed,” with the remaining companies expected the following week. Oz framed the agreements as “affordability in action,” and each chief executive spoke briefly.
Why it matters
This is the dated expansion record of the administration’s MFN drug-pricing program — nine more manufacturers in, 14 of 17 as stated — paired with the first on-camera sales figures for the Gold Card. This chronicle files it on the Health & MAHA hub.
Scoreboard candidate
Scoreboard candidate: a dated program expansion with checkable figures as stated at the event — nine pharmaceutical companies added, 14 of the 17 largest now agreed, per the President; Gold Card sales put at $300 million by Secretary Lutnick and over $1.5 billion by the President in the same event. Flagged for the scoreboard editor; the entry itself stays review-gated.
