What happened
President Donald Trump delivered remarks on the economy in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on December 19, 2025 (uploaded December 20). “Since my inauguration, we’ve created more than 53,000 North Carolina jobs, including 8,000 North Carolina construction jobs,” he said. “More than 150,000 North Carolina residents have been lifted off of food stamps.”
The President argued that “under Trump, wages are rising much faster than inflation for the first time in many years,” pointed to the latest inflation report as the best in years despite tariff collections he put in the hundreds of billions of dollars, previewed the $1,776 military payment, and worked through the favored-nations drug-pricing case he had announced earlier the same day. He closed on the year-one summary he carried through December: “our border is secure, our spirit is restored, inflation is stopped, wages are up, prices are down, our nation is strong. And America is back.”
Why it matters
The Rocky Mount remarks are the President’s year-end economic case delivered in a swing-state venue: state-level jobs and food-stamp figures, the wages-over-inflation claim, and the tariff defense, all as stated by the President. This chronicle files them on the Economy, Tariffs & Trade hub.
