What happened

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth hosted the inaugural Pentagon Christmas tree lighting ceremony on December 3, 2025, published live by the Department of War. The department’s description identifies the ceremony as the first of its kind at the Pentagon.

Why it matters

An inaugural ceremony hosted by the Secretary is a department first, recorded here as part of the Pentagon’s public calendar under Hegseth in the same December run as the Christmas Worship Service he hosted two weeks later.
