What happened

President Donald Trump hosted a cabinet meeting at the White House on December 2, 2025 — “the final cabinet meeting of 2025,” in a year he called “the most consequential and successful first year of any administration.” His opening argument was investment and affordability: more than $18 trillion in investment commitments secured in ten months against less than $1 trillion across the prior four years, 46 all-time stock-market highs, and gasoline “now at about $2.50 a gallon” and headed toward $2, with Thanksgiving turkey down 33 percent and egg prices down 86 percent, as he stated the figures.

On the Federal Reserve, he said, “We’ll be announcing somebody probably early next year for the new chairman of the Fed,” and recounted asking Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to take the job: “He said, ‘No, I want to stay… right where we are.’” He devoted a long passage to his most-favored-nation drug-pricing deals — the GLP-1 “fat drug” down “from $1,300 to $125 to $140,” as he put it — and to his healthcare position: “I want the money to go to the people. Let all the money go to the people and let the people go out and buy their own healthcare.”

In closing questions, asked about potential land strikes against drug production, he said Colombia “has cocaine manufacturing plants” and that “anybody that’s doing that and selling it into our country is subject to attack — not just Venezuela.” Asked whether Minnesota Governor Tim Walz should resign over the fraud scandal in his state, he called Walz “a grossly incompetent man” and left the question to Democrats.

Why it matters

A full cabinet meeting on camera is the team’s group portrait, and this one fixes the administration’s year-end posture in the President’s own words: the affordability case, the drug-pricing claim set, a dated Fed-chair timeline, and an expanded strike doctrine stated in answer to a question. This chronicle files it on the Elections & Governance hub.
