What happened

President Donald Trump took questions from reporters aboard Air Force One on November 25, 2025, centered on the Ukraine peace talks. “We’re having good talks. We started with Russia… Ukraine is doing well. I think they’re pretty happy about it. I’d like to see it end,” he said. The original 28-point proposal, he said, “was just a map… a concept. And from there, they’re taking each one of the 28 points and then you get down to 22 points. A lot of them resolved and actually very favorably.”

On the contested questions he described land “going both ways” as negotiators try to “clean up a border,” security guarantees being “worked out with Europe,” and Russia’s concession as being that “they stop fighting and they don’t take any more land,” as he framed it. He said envoy Steve Witkoff would meet President Putin in Moscow the following week, possibly with Jared Kushner, and set no deadline: “You know what the deadline for me is? When it’s over.” Asked about reported audio of Witkoff coaching the Russians, he said he had not heard it but called it “a very standard form of negotiation.”

On healthcare, he restated his position: “Don’t give any money to the insurance companies. Give it to the people directly. Let them go out and buy their own healthcare plan.”

Why it matters

The gaggle is the President’s own progress report on the peace track at its most active point: the proposal’s evolution, the Moscow envoy trip, and the no-deadline posture, all in his words. This chronicle files it on the Foreign Policy & Defense hub.
