What happened

President Donald Trump spoke with reporters aboard Air Force One on November 14, 2025. On tariffs, he said his administration had cut back tariffs on foods not produced competitively in the United States, “like tomatoes and bananas” and coffee, and expected prices to come down; asked about the proposed $2,000 payment to low- and middle-income Americans, he said it would come “next year sometime,” funded from tariff revenue as he described it, alongside debt reduction. On Venezuela, he said, “I sort of made up my mind,” without disclosing the decision, and cited progress on stopping drugs.

On the BBC, the President said the broadcaster had “changed the words coming out of my mouth,” that it had apologized, and that “we’ll sue them for anywhere between a billion and 5 billion, probably sometime next week,” as he stated the plan. On health care, he repeated the proposal to give money directly to people to buy their own coverage instead of paying insurance companies. On investigations, he noted reporting that U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton would look into matters he was asked about, describing Clayton as highly respected. He also said China was in the process of making large soybean purchases under the recent deal, as he stated it, predicted nuclear denuclearization talks among the top three nuclear powers were desirable, and said he would campaign for the midterms.

Why it matters

This gaggle dates two checkable commitments: the timing of the tariff dividend (sometime in 2026, as the President stated it) and the food-tariff rollback rationale. It also places the BBC litigation threat and the direct-pay health care proposal on the record five days before the shutdown-ending signing at which the President repeated the health care call.

Scoreboard watch

Scoreboard candidate: the $2,000 tariff dividend, with a “next year” timing stated by the President on November 14, 2025, and the food-tariff rollbacks described the same day. Flagged for the scoreboard editor; no entry is published from this page.
