What happened

President Donald Trump delivered remarks at the America Business Forum in Miami, Florida, on November 5, 2025 — “the one-year anniversary,” as he put it, of the 2024 election. “On November 5th, 2024, the American people reclaimed our government. We restored our sovereignty,” he said, recounting the election as he stated its results: all seven swing states, the popular vote, an Electoral College result of 312 to 226, and 86 percent of counties, as he stated the figures.

On governing, the President said that for every new regulation issued, ten were to be eliminated simultaneously, and that after nine months the ratio was running 30-to-1, with “nearly $1 trillion worth of regulatory burdens” slashed, as he stated the figures. He said permitting for energy and mining projects that “used to take decades now takes 28 days,” as he stated it, and that on day one he had signed an executive order to unleash American energy and terminate what he called the “Green New Scam.” Of the night’s New York result, he said: “We lost a little bit of sovereignty last night in New York, but we’ll take care of it. Don’t worry about it.”
