What happened

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump participated in Halloween at the White House on October 30, 2025. The White House broadcast is event footage of the celebration — the President and First Lady greeting costumed children and families — carried with music and no remarks.

The celebration closed the day the President returned from his Asia trip: the same morning, aboard Air Force One, he had given the post-Xi-meeting gaggle paged alongside this one, and the following evening he took Halloween questions’ worth of shutdown and trip questions on arrival in Palm Beach.

Why it matters

The annual Halloween celebration is a fixed point of the White House public calendar, and this year’s fell on the seam between the Asia trip and the shutdown’s final stretch — the ceremonial record of the day, kept here as the chronicle keeps the trip’s diplomatic record.
