What happened

President Donald Trump took questions from the press aboard Air Force One on October 19, 2025. Asked about Israeli strikes in Gaza that day, he said: “We want to make sure that it’s going to be very peaceful with Hamas. As you know, they’ve been quite rambunctious… either way, it’s going to be handled properly. It’s going to be handled toughly but properly.” Asked directly whether the ceasefire was still in place, he answered: “Yeah, it is.”

On Colombia, asked about Senator Lindsey Graham’s statement that tariffs would be imposed on the country that day or the next, the President said: “I read the statement and said it’s correct… I was with him today. We’re working today and I read his statement and it’s correct.” On the amount, he said: “I’ll let you know tomorrow.” He also addressed the Virginia attorney general race, saying of candidate Jay Jones — who, as the exchange recounted, had spoken of killing his opponent and his opponent’s children — “I can’t imagine anybody voting for Jay Jones… Anybody would be put in prison for what he did,” and previewed the administration’s crime record: “The crime numbers are coming way down. Way down. Then you take a look at a place like Washington DC which is now one of the safest cities in the country.”
