What happened

President Donald Trump announced a fertility-drug agreement at the White House on October 16, 2025. “We’re here today to announce a historic victory for American women, mothers, and families, with the actions I will outline this afternoon [to] dramatically slash the cost of IVF and the treatment and many of the most common fertility drugs for countless millions of Americans. Prices are going way down, way, way down,” he said.

He stated the problem’s scale: “A single round of IVF in the United States can cost up to $25,000… and many couples require multiple rounds for a successful pregnancy,” and “the number one fertility drug used in IVF is currently 700% more expensive in the United States than the rest of the world. And you know, we’re ending all of that.” Under the agreement, as he described it, EMD Serono will list its fertility drugs — including its Gonal-F product — on TrumpRx.gov “at very, very heavily reduced prices” under most-favored-nation pricing, and the FDA will expedite review in the area. He was joined by EMD Serono senior vice president Libby Horne, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, then-Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, and Senator Katie Britt, whom he credited with starting the effort.
