What happened
President Donald Trump addressed the assembled world leaders at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt on October 13, 2025, after Egypt’s president introduced him and thanked the United States, Turkey, and Qatar for their work on the agreement to end the war in Gaza.
“With the historic agreement we’ve just signed, those prayers of millions have finally been answered,” the President said. “As you know, the hostages have been returned and further work goes on having to do with the, sadly to say, bodies. Together we’ve achieved what everybody said was impossible. At long last, we have peace in the Middle East.” He added: “After years of suffering and bloodshed, the war in Gaza is over. Humanitarian aid is now pouring in.”
Why it matters
The summit remarks are the multilateral half of the peace day: the agreement presented not to one parliament but to the assembled leaders whose governments are expected to carry its next stages. It is recorded on the Foreign Policy & Defense hub alongside the Knesset address and the signing ceremony.
Scoreboard watch
The signed agreement, the returned hostages, and the resumption of humanitarian aid, as stated by the President, are recorded here as candidate items for the weekly scoreboard.
