What happened
President Donald Trump opened the October 8, 2025 roundtable with an update on the Middle East peace negotiations — “it’s very close and they’re doing very well,” with a possible trip of his own toward the end of the week — before turning to the roundtable’s subject: Antifa activity, and Portland in particular.
Participants who said they had observed the Portland ICE facility described an organized operation, as they stated it. One said: “I watched 20 Antifa militants help my assault suspect escape into an Antifa safe house that is one block away from the ICE facility,” describing the house as a staging point where protesters rest, shower, and eat between shifts, funded through mutual aid groups, with residents near the facility “begging for federal intervention” while, as the speaker stated it, the city refuses to help. FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi were among the officials taking part.
Why it matters
The roundtable is the administration’s evidentiary case, presented in its own room: first-hand accounts of organized anti-ICE activity laid out for the President as the federal response in Portland was being contested. It is recorded on the Justice & Crime hub.
Scoreboard watch
The federal response to the Portland ICE-facility protests, and the accounts recorded at this roundtable, are recorded here as candidate items for the weekly scoreboard.
