What happened
Fresh from addressing the military’s senior leaders that morning, President Donald Trump announced on September 30, 2025, that Pfizer — “one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers” — had agreed to offer its prescription medications at major discounts in the United States under the most-favored-nation pricing order he had established earlier in the year. “We’re going to be paying the lowest price,” he said. “Now we’re going to be paying whatever the lowest price is, favored nations. This will save American taxpayers and consumers hundreds of millions of dollars a year.”
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said the pricing framework removed the uncertainty that had held back industry investment, and confirmed the figure the President cited: the company is ready to invest $70 billion in the next few years in U.S. manufacturing and research, as Bourla stated it.
Why it matters
The Pfizer agreement is the first most-favored-nation drug-pricing deal with a major manufacturer — the template the administration then extended, with AstraZeneca following ten days later. It is recorded on the Health & MAHA hub alongside those pages.

The Pfizer most-favored-nation commitment, its stated savings, and the $70 billion investment figure are recorded here as candidate items for the weekly scoreboard.
