What happened

President Trump, standing with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, formally released what he called the administration’s “principles for peace,” saying the two leaders had concluded an important meeting covering Iran, trade, expansion of the Abraham Accords, and, most importantly, how to end the war in Gaza. He described the day as potentially “one of the great days ever in civilization” and said the proposal had been developed with contributions from Arab and Muslim nations and European allies, each of which he thanked for its support.

Netanyahu endorsed the plan, saying it would “free our hostages, end Hamas’ tyranny in Gaza, and enable a more secure and prosperous future for the peoples of our region,” and closed by thanking the President: “History has already shown that under your leadership, Israel and America can change the face of the Middle East.” The two leaders declined to take press questions, saying the documents and approvals should be settled first.
