What happened

President Trump was met on arrival by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, whom he endorsed from the tarmac, and spoke briefly about the Ryder Cup, where the U.S. team had lost three matches and tied one: “We have to fly and help them,” he joked, saying “we’ll get it done one way or the other.”

Asked about pharmaceutical tariffs and company reshoring plans, the President said a lot of companies were moving into the United States so they would not have to pay tariffs, and credited the election result. Blakeman thanked the President and predicted the visit would bring the team luck.

Why it matters

A short arrival gaggle that pairs the President’s Ryder Cup appearance with his standing tariff argument — that the levies are pulling manufacturing into the United States — made here in answer to a direct question about pharmaceutical reshoring.
